Your heart is at greater risk with gum infection

September 24th, 2008

The connection between
dental health and overall health is seen very significant. Acute infections
such as gum
infections and periodontal disease
have a very important part in the growth
of cardiovascular disease. Many individuals are suffering from bacterial
infection in the mouth and greatly affect the gums and teeth. With this
condition, a large level of bacteria travels into other organs of the body
through the bloodstream and specially affecting the heart and lungs. Harmful
bacterial starts in the mouth primarily and enters the bloodstream. Patient
with such chronic periodontal disease have the greater risk of heart disease.
But this can be avoided through proper oral hygiene which can be done by
regular brushing and flossing of teeth. Rinsing the mouth with warm water and
salt together with dental check up and cleanings regularly healthy gums and
teeth were achieved.
