What Periodontal Gum Disease May Mean To Your Dental Health

April 18th, 2008

Periodontal or gum disease
is simply not a medical problem that most of us take seriously and this
is not hard to believe because most dentists tend to focus on tooth
decay rather than our gums. While cavities are very common and can
spread harmful bacteria to other parts of the body, the fact remains
that preventing gum disease may be even more important for your health
(and budget). Gum disease is caused by harmful bacteria in your mouth
which create an infection in your gingival tissue. Treating gum disease
is relatively simple so long as the condition is above the gum line. Be
sure to prevent the condition from ever starting by brushing and
flossing daily in order to remove the harmful bacteria that cause all
of the problems.
