Treatment for periodontal disease

July 16th, 2008

Gum disease is called periodontal disease in dental terms.
This is the infection of the tissues and bones that supports our teeth.
Untreated periodontal disease can lead to tooth lose and other much more
serious dental health problem. Periodontal disease is commonly caused by a plaque
that builds up in the gum line. A plaque is an invisible layer of germs that
forms naturally on the gum line. This plaque contains bacteria which is
producing toxins that irritate or damage our gums. A regular healthy oral
hygiene and a visit to your dentist are very effective in preventing gum
disease to get worse.
