Treat Gum Disease To Prevent Further Health Complications

September 8th, 2008

Gum disease can silently take away your dental health. It has
practically affect people around the world, and can already be called
an epidemic. Gum disease can come in many forms, from simple gum
inflammation (gingivitis) to infection to the gums, bones and other
tissues surrounding the teeth (irreversible periodontitis). There are
many consequences of gum disease that people can pick up. Those who are
suffering from gum disease are more prone to having a heart attack or
stroke because the bacteria-rich plaque that cause gum disease
can travel through the body via the blood stream. There are other
health problems linked to gum disease such as pancreatic cancer,
respiratory diseases, kidney disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis,
stomach ulcers and even pregnancy complications. It is imperative to
have superior oral hygiene and regular dental consultation to avoid the
complications brought about by gum disease.
