The Risk Of Getting Gum Disease When You Are Diabetic

March 4th, 2008

People
with diabetes are at high risk of getting tooth and gum
disease
. Gum disease and bad breath or Periodontitis is
associated with each other. High blood sugar level triggers gum
disease to occur. So not only is bad breath more likely to occur in
diabetes sufferers, but bad breath and diabetes each in turn cause
the other condition to become harder to control and deal with.
Diabetic people can experience tooth and gum disease more often if
blood glucose increases and they must carefully give attention to
their dental health care to prevent tooth and gum disease that may
lead to Periodontitis later.
