The progression of gum disease
Two most common forms of
gum disease were gingivitis and periodontal disease. The mildest stage of gum
disease is gingivitis and the severe stage of gum infection is called
periodontitis. This oral condition of the mouth makes gums very sensitive that
is can easily bleed. Study shows that periodontal
disease is connected and linked with heart attack, stroke and respiratory
disease.
If mouth were not given importance
especially that it is failed to regularly brush and floss it accumulates food
particles in the tooth enamel and commonly called plaque. Too much plaque may
irritate gums and leads to swelling. Another formed is the gum pocket which may
eventually affect gum tissues resulting to tooth loss.
Treatment with severe gum
infection can be expensive and painful. It depends on the severity of
periodontitis that a patient should undergo for periodontal
surgery treatment. The need to have good oral hygiene is very important
especially after the surgery. Natural treatments can be done at home with soft
bristled toothbrush and specialize dental floss. Warm water with salt also help
kill bacteria in the mouth and it is good for mouth rinse. Above all, the need
to have regular check up with your dentist is very necessary to ensure that
oral condition is healthy and the detection of gum infection is easily
seen.
