Early stage of periodontal disease

July 12th, 2008

The early stage of periodontal disease is called gingivitis which is rarely painful and causes relatively
minor signs, such as swollen and bleeding gums. But is left untreated, it can
progress into a much more serious dental health problem called periodontitis
which we don’t want to happen. This periodontitis is a serious infection that
can destroy the soft tissue and bone that supports our teeth. And long term
periodontitis can also lead to health problem such as higher blood sugar
levels, and increase the risk of heart attacks and stroke. This is why it is
very vital to treat periodontitis at early stage to avoid a much more serious
health problem.

Treating gingivitis

July 12th, 2008

Bleeding gums is usually cause by a plaque. Plaque is a
bacterium that grows on the gum line. When plaque and bacteria buildup on the
gum line it will develop into gingivitis. When gingivitis starts to occur, your
gum will appear swollen and has a bright red color, intense bad breath, and
your gum will bleed easily. In short, plaque causes bleeding gums and gingivitis. Gingivitis can affect the tissues
that surround our teeth and can cause mouth ulcer and also long term tooth
damage. But the good news is we can treat this kind of dental health problem
naturally by just practicing a good oral hygiene.
