Internet experience for the new psoriasis patient

March 9th, 2008

One thing that the new psoriasis patient wants is the answers.
Similar to any other medical condition, this common skin disorder is a lot to
take in at one time and the doctor really can’t tell you what life will be like
with it and what treatments really work. All he or she knows is what kind of
success their patients have had with psoriasis care in the past. Any person
with any kind of Internet experience knows that you can find people discussing
anything if you look hard enough. Luckily people with all kinds of chronic skin
conditions have banded together for the common good. Despite the fact that that
is certainly useful information, you will want to stay on top of the situation
yourself to be a better advocate for yourself and your skin.

Psoriasis developing psoriatic arthritis

February 1st, 2008

Psoriatic Arthritis is associated with psoriasis on the skin
with approximately 10-30% of people with psoriasis developing psoriatic
arthritis. Often Psoriatic Arthritis goes undiagnosed for long periods of time,
particularly in its milder forms. It can develop at any time, but for most
people it appears between the ages of 30 and 50. Psoriatic arthritis tends to
affect men at a slightly higher rate than women. The immune system plays an
important role and both genetic and environmental factors seem to be associated
with the development of psoriatic arthritis.
