Periodontal Gum Disease Is Possible To A Certain Smoker
Genetics- here is a gene that predispositions certain people to periodontal gum disease
and people with this gene are twice as likely as a smoker to have gum
disease (smokers are 3X’s more likely to have gum disease than
non-smokers) Other Medical Problems-Diabetes, HIV, Leukemia-all of
these medical conditions are known to cause gum disease and there is
little that can be done about the condition except to control the
bacteria with antibiotics, proper hydration, and excellent oral hygiene
