How Effective Is Mouthwash In Eliminating Bad Breath?

December 5th, 2007

Most people believe that mouthwash eliminates bad breath. However, if you were to check with a dentist, he/she will most likely to reply that it does not.

Effectiveness of Mouthwash
Most experts agree in saying that mouthwash does not eliminate bad breath. You may experience fresher breath but usually it is effective only for a limited period of time because it is able to kill germs and bacteria in the mouth. The problem is that the bad breath you want to eliminate may become worse after some time.

Most mouthwashes available on the market contain alcohol and it can dry your mouth. To make matters worse, this can cause your saliva glands to be less responsive in helping wash away bacteria. Hence, it is not surprising to observe that many people actually complain that they have a worse bad breath after using mouthwash.
