Baby in the womb is at risk when the mother is having a gum infection
During pregnancy gums
were very soft and spongy because of the effect of blood supply increased and
hormonal change. Gums easily bleed when brushed and when eating hard food. The
cause of infection starts when food particles got stuck in between the teeth
and gum line. It is very important that gum
infection and gingivitis must not leave untreated because it has harmful
effects like premature labor and birth defects. Any infection during pregnancy
must be the given attention especially pertaining to gum infections. If
bacteria can spread to the heart and other organs so it is possible to travel
into the uterus which causes uterine contractions and premature labor. A
superior oral care is needed to prevent worst effects of gum infection during
pregnancy with the baby.
