Gum Disease Treatments Are Believed To Control Anaerobic Bacteria

January 11th, 2008

Researchers in oral health now believe anaerobic bacteria eventually spread beyond the mouth when gum disease treatments
fail to neutralize their population. These harmful microorganisms will
then enter the bloodstream and eventually attach themselves to the
fatty plaques. Fatty plaques are responsible for Coronary Artery
Disease because they clot together and obstruct blood flow. If gum
disease treatments fail and the anaerobic bacteria spread to the heart
and attach to fatty plaques, they will speed the process of clotting
and thus increase chances for heart attack and even stroke.
