Periodontal Disease Defense To Save Health

February 17th, 2008

Uncommonly known to be attacking any one, a silent but effective
destroyer of oral health is periodontal disease. Most people with an
early degree of periodontal disease, notice this form of periodontal
disease when they are brushing their teeth or eating something hard
like a pear. However, at more advanced stages such as chronic periodontitis,
the condition becomes a serious health risk. Periodontal disease may
pose several worse consequences, but it can be effectively avoided with
good program of oral hygiene and some anti-bacterial product such as
mouthwash. Just be certain that the mouthwash is made from all natural
ingredients because products made with alcohol and other chemicals can
cause dry mouth. Any agent that dries the mouth out is harmful because
it removes one of the body’s natural defense against bacteria-saliva.

The Wrecking Effects Of Chronic Gingivitis

February 16th, 2008

Gum disease affects more than your oral health as it is linked to other
more serious health problems. It is estimated that, worldwide, up to 80
per cent of people have some form of gum disease. Mild or early gum
disease (gingivitis) often goes unidentified since there may be few or
no symptoms, and early warning signs, like gums that bleed easily with
brushing or flossing, may simply be ignored. It is important to
recognize gingivitis early and manage it appropriately, since
progression to more serious disease can result in irreversible damage.
It is now actually recognized that chronic gingivitis
may be linked to other serious health conditions, including
cardiovascular disease, heart attacks and strokes, as well as pre-term
birth and low birth weight, and possibly diabetes and kidney disease.

Avoid Chronic Gingivitis At All Cost!

February 14th, 2008

It is imperative to see dentist immediately if you have chronic gingivitis
as the condition is caused by an infection that may soon spread and
ultimately cause the loss of your teeth. Using the best oral hygiene
measures such as brushing regularly at least twice a day and taking
care to floss in between teeth is great prevention against gum disease
and gingivitis. Even before that point, serious conditions like acute
necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis may develop which can be painful to
endure and complicated to effectively treat. But prior to that point,
chronic gingivitis is fairly easy to treat with some good oral hygiene
and a teeth cleaning.

Know How To Prevent Gingivitis From Taking Over

February 14th, 2008

Between your teeth falling completely out of your mouth to the
increased chances for major medical problems down the road, the price
for not knowing how to prevent gingivitis
can be very high indeed. However, mild gum disease or gingivitis is
only the beginning of problems where the harmful bacteria are
concerned. Simple good oral hygiene practices such as brushing and
flossing daily combined with the use of an all natural mouthwash is
generally enough to prevent gingivitis treatment from becoming
necessary. However, in addition to knowing how to prevent gingivitis
through good oral hygiene, it is important to also see your dentist
every six months for a cleaning and check-up so that any problems can
be addressed before they require a chronic gingivitis remedy.

Protect Pregnancy From Gingivitis

February 14th, 2008

Due to hormonal imbalances and increased potential for dehydration, pregnancy and gingivitis
problems tend to go hand-in-hand. In addition, the immune system tends
to be strained during pregnancy making gum disease and gingivitis
problems more probable because the problems are caused by bacteria.
When the immune system is weakened, it is more difficult to contain the
infection caused by the bacteria. If left untreated, necrotizing
gingivitis or periodontitis may form and lead to even more dental
health problems.
