Some Controversial Anti Aging Skin Care Solutions
Some Controversial Anti Aging Skin Care Solutions
Anti aging skin care products are very popular today. As our lifespan
increases so does our desire to remain active as well as look young and
healthy. Skin is important so a great deal of effort goes into the preparation
of beauty products especially those that increase the production of collagen,
which is the primary protein in skin. Twenty-five per cent of the skin’s
protein is collagen. Collagen is a member of another family of substances that
aid in reducing the signs of aging. we call them antioxidants, they aid the
repair of cell damage associated with skin damage.
Although the benefits of vitamin C (an anti-oxidant) are well documented,
it is still debated as to what our daily amount should be. Skin care
treatments that are based on vitamin C, pose the problem of becoming oxidized
themselves as they come into contact with air during their usage.
Other skin care treatments which mimic the effects of vitamin C are being
tried all the time which are hoped to be more stable in the atmosphere and
also cheaper to produce. Although these products are good, they cannot
actually compare with vitamin C but fortunately vitamin E and alpha-lipoic
acid are also anti-oxidants so they can be used to gain the same effect.
Vitamin E is found in the blood and is an antioxidant that is also used to
increase the body’s defenses against other health problems. It has many
functions including inhibiting the formation of cancer cells. Another of these
is lipoic acid which is found in every cell of our body to help generate
energy for us to live. It can also help reduce the aging process which affects
the skin.
Another group of products used to reduce the visible signs of aging are
phytochemicals which are compounds extracted from various plants and used in
many anti aging skin care products. Phytochemicals prevent occurrence of
certain types of cancer; examples of these are:
- Cancer of the Prostate
- Breast Cancer
- Colon Cancer
These are some of the most common (and increasingly so) cancers in the
world today.
Surprisingly, the group of vitamins; B5, B6, and B12 have also shown that
they can be used to help reduce the effects of aging. This just goes to
highlight just how complex and far reaching the whole field of anti aging
skin care products is and why so much more research is required. A great deal
about the aging process has already been learned and the products available
today are already far more advanced than ten years ago; there is still a long
way to go however, before methods that successfully reduce the effects of aging
are commonplace.
The amount of research going on in this field will undoubtedly bring
results in time, hopefully bringing down the cost of these anti aging skin
care products in addition to increasing their reliability. A person should
never accept that everything science devises in relation to skin care and
anti aging is always going to be the best; we must not forget however, that
there are many more natural methods we can all use to reduce the signs of
aging on a regular basis. Natural methods are known, but few people actually
follow them; what proportion of the population actually eats healthy, gets
plenty of exercise, takes their vitamins, drinks sufficient water and obtains
restful and regular sleep?
Not the majority of people, that’s for sure.
