Swollen Gums Can Cause Dental Health Threats

Swollen gums are connected to gum disease, and should not be left
untreated to endanger teeth and gum health. Plaque and bacteria that
accumulates in the mouth often release toxins that can irritate and
swell gums, leading to a red and very shiny gums. Swollen gum can also
appear white due to pressure and infection. When you feel pain in the
gums while eating and brushing, you might be in need of swollen gum
treatment. Notable plaque and tartar build-up due to oral hygiene
negligence may be causing your swollen gums and leave you at high risk
of developing gum disease.

Swollen gums that have been left untreated can easily progress to
gum disease and other health risks due to infections. When pockets
begins to form in the gums, it is advisable to seek a dentist or
orthodontist to get proper treatment for swollen gums.
Symptoms of gum disease can be hard to detect, so it’s best to maintain
superior oral hygiene to prevent plaque and bacterial formation and to
keep regular dental visits to ensure teeth and gum health.
