Stop Gum Disease Threats, Dental Hygiene Should Be A Major Concern

February 9th, 2008

Although the causes and effects of gum disease
linked to other diseases is not absolutely proven, the data on the
connection between serious health complications and gum disease
continues to pile up. People are urgently advised to take aggressive
action against this usually unattended but actually serious disease. In
the case of American adults, it was estimated that 80 percent of them
have some form of gum disease. A kind of bacteria, which is found in
plaque, a sticky, colorless film that constantly forms on the teeth and
tongue is found to be the main cause of gum disease. Daily brushing,
flossing, tongue scraping and other forms of inter-dental cleaning
usually remove plaque to keep the gums healthy. American adults are
encouraged to make dental hygiene their major concern.
