Spot Unnoticed Receding Gums Early On

April 4th, 2008

In adults over the age of 40, gums that recede to expose the root surfaces is a common condition. Others may consider receding gums
as a sign of aging and in some cases, it can also be the result of
tooth brushing. But take into account that receding gums can signal
more than you can ever think of. In so many cases, receding gums are
caused by gum disease. The gum disease condition usually got unnoticed
because it does not cause any pain and symptoms. Gum disease commonly
starts off when bacteria that contains plaque builds up on teeth, this
situation can be common in adults. Daily removal of plaque is
important, because once the plaque is not removed, it produces toxins
that can cause gums to be irritated and inflamed. The gum tissues are
destroyed by the inflammatory process, thus causing them to separate
from teeth and from pockets or spaces. The pockets tries to hold
bacteria and can make the gum condition worse.
