Severe Abdominal Pains Can Be Caused By Constipation

December 5th, 2007

Abdominal pains can be caused by constipation in some instances. When
fecal impaction occurs, stool hardens at the bottom of the large
intestine creating blockage, which as a result, causes abdominal pain
and constipation. Fecal impaction is the hardening of stool between the
large intestine and the rectum. It creates a blockage in the
gastrointestinal tract causing discomfort during bowel movements. Fecal
impaction in its early stages will trigger abdominal cramping, and
rectum discomfort. But as feces backs up behind the blockage, pressure
builds within your body causing further abdominal pain and constipation.
