Relieve pain from massage therapy

May 29th, 2008

The symptoms of migraines vary from person to person. Some things to
consider when including massage
therapy to migraine treatment
are the following: A limit of 30-45 minutes
to avoid exhaustion, and is more of a relaxing massage; the purpose of the
massage should be to decrease pain, muscle spasm and circulation and to
increase relaxation. Along with the treatment and the migraine attacks the
massage should be very light and limited to neck, shoulders, head and face
while lying on the back. And for a deeper treatment addressing tension should
lay on the stomach. It is also recommended during a migraine the hydrotherapy
method by applying ice to the neck areas to reduce pain as well as hot baths
can help reduce pain and prevent future attacks. Massage is very useful and if
it is done properly, the patient suffering from migraine could get as instant
relief or it decreased the severity of the symptoms.
