Prevent Bleeding Gums And Evident Gum Disease Threats

May 29th, 2008

Gum disease can occur in most people at some time in their lives. One
of the common signs of gum disease is bleeding gums. Gums that bleed
can be a sign of gingivitis. Bleeding gums can also be a sign of
periodontitis. This is an advanced disease of the gum tissue caused by
plaque that has hardened on your teeth. When this happens it will be
necessary for a dental hygienist or a dentist to scrape this material
off your teeth. Periodontitis can lead to infected gums that pull away
from the normal gum line. If left untreated, periodontitis can damage
the bone around your teeth. Your teeth may become loose and have to be
removed. Good oral hygiene is the best way to prevent bleeding gums, gingivitis and periodontitis.
