Poor Oral Hygiene Commonly Cause Periodontitis

The advanced and serious stage of gum disease is called periodontitis,
this can certainly include a bone loss. This is the disease state
wherein it is already irreversible. In this stage, there is a serious
damage to the gum tissue and the bone that support the teeth and the
teeth can be certainly affected and eventually will become loose and
fall out. The occurrence of periodontitis can be in the early stage of
periodontal disease such as gingivitis, especially when it is left
untreated. The other name for periodontitis is called pyorrhea.
Periodontitis can also be linked to serious health problems such as
increase risk for stroke and heart attacks. Also it can cause blood
sugar levels to become high. It can also cause birth of premature
babies and low birth weight infants. The most common cause of
periodontitis is poor oral hygiene. The best ways to prevent
periodontitis is to brush twice daily, floss daily and have regular
check ups with the dentist.
