Periodontal Disease - A Silent Destroyer

January 19th, 2008

Doctors have long pointed out the silent but effective destroyer of
oral health - periodontal disease. There are several periodontal
diseases and the one that most people are familiar with is gingivitis.
Rarely a painful condition, the symptoms of gingivitis include inflamed
and red gums that may bleed rather easily when touched. Most people
with gingivitis notice this form of periodontal disease when they are
brushing their teeth or eating something hard like a pear. However, at
more advanced stages such as chronic periodontitis, the condition becomes a serious health risk.
