Oral Health Care For Dentures Can Prevent Swollen Gums

September 24th, 2008

Controlling the plaque and bacteria in the mouth is the best way to
prevent the emergence of swollen gums and other symptoms of gum
disease. The right brushing and flossing techniques, as well as
follow-up rinsing of the mouth with an effective mouthwash, is the
ultimate prevention against swollen gums. Having dentures is not an
excuse for not maintaining proper oral hygiene. Although dentures may
feel uncomfortable at first, it is essential to keep dentures clean and
free from foods that can cause stain, bad breath and swollen gums.
Brush all surfaces with dental health care
product at least twice a day to ensure that bacteria and plaque does
not accumulate. Also, remove the dentures before going to bed and place
them in the water or liquid used to clean dentures.
