Topical creams, also known as non biological therapy, are the most frequently used treatments for psoriasis.
One group of these products focuses on the use of steroids. These are
very effective and have few side effects. They are also relatively
inexpensive for the patient. Another group of topical ointments include
retinoids. Retinoids are related to vitamin A and help to balance the
genes that are involved in the production of psoriasis lesions. The
final category of topical treatments used is the Vitamin D3 Analog
series. These work to inhibit the excessive production of keratinocytes.
