Is It Possible To Repair Receding Gums?

May 23rd, 2008

If it isn’t perfectly clear yet, receding gums are a symptom of another
more severe mouth problem. The underlying cause has to be taken care of
before you can cure or repair receding gums.
The best case scenario is never developing the problems in the first
place. Fortunately there aren’t many things that cause this common
condition, so it isn’t necessarily difficult for you and your dentist
to determine what needs to be done. The most common cause of receding,
bleeding gums is gum disease or periodontal disease. All traces of the
bacteria that cause this disease must be treated and eliminated. If
there is any infection left in the mouth at all, it’s useless to
continue to treat receding gums. The infection will simply reinfect the
tissue.
