Gingivitis Can Cause Gums To Recede

April 5th, 2008

Gum disease in its early stage which is called gingivitis
is marked by gums that appear red, swollen and does easily bleed.
Gingivitis is still reversible and can be detected and treated by your
dental hygienist during regular check ups. As the disease develops into
periodontitis, it can cause destruction to the bone and the soft
tissues. And the teeth pulls away from the gums and can fall out in the
advanced stage of gum disease. As a matter of fact, periodontitis is
the major cause of tooth loss in adults over the age of 40. Receding
gums require teeth to be pulled out by a dentist.
