Common cause of bleeding gums

July 7th, 2008

Bleeding gums is commonly cause by inflammation of the gum due to the plaque buildup in the gum line. This kind of condition is also known as gingivitis. As plaque around the gum line hardens, it will lead to periodontitis which is another kind of dental health problem and can cause even worse gum bleeding problem. Also these open sores in out gums will provide access for blood-borne infections to enter our circulatory system. With gingivitis, our gums will appear swollen and red-purple which is a sign of inflammation. This can be treated by cleaning and removing the tartar in the gum line.
