Avoid Any Risk Of Gum Disease/Heart Problems

April 5th, 2008

For far too many of us, the link between gum disease and heart
problems is unknown. A large part of the reason for this ignorance is
due to the fact that most people don’t take gum disease prevention
seriously because it has such mild symptoms-at first. Researchers in
oral health now believe anaerobic bacteria eventually spread beyond the
mouth when gum disease treatments fail to neutralize their population.
These harmful microorganisms will then enter the bloodstream and
eventually attach themselves to the fatty plaques. Fatty plaques are
responsible for Coronary Artery Disease because they clot together and
obstruct blood flow. If gum disease treatments fail and the anaerobic
bacteria spread to the heart and attach to fatty plaques, they will
speed the process of clotting and thus increase chances for heart
attack and even stroke.
