Associating Smoking And Periodontal Disease Risks

Smokers should be more aware of the risks they put themselves into.
Smoking can indeed out your health at risks of complications. Research
has pointed out the connection between smoking and periodontal disease.
Studies show that smokers are receptive to tooth loss than nonsmokers.
Smoking also complicates and damages the immune system, making smokers
prone to infections and lead to slower healing. Although smoking can be
an indirect cause of periodontal disease, it is nevertheless a factors
to the progression of the disease. To get effective periodontal disease
treatment results, it is best for smokers to kick the habit before
stating the treatment. Practice superior oral hygiene to avoid
complications from smoking related periodontal disease.
